Resort Updates

We would like to take the time to provide a new update on our course of action. Our top priority remains the health and safety of our guests, our staff, and the local community. We are continuing to monitor the dynamic COVID-19 situation and provide a safe and healthy escape to nature. This post will be edited as the situation evolves.

Halcyon Hot Springs Staff have undergone intensive Health and Safety training and are ready to re-open with safety, cleanliness and awareness in mind. We are currently open for limited, secluded bookings where we have adopted a no-touch check-in and service protocol.

At this time, we will not be allowing any day traffic to the resort. This is in an effort to keep spatial awareness and at this time we are encouraging everyone to do their part to mitigate the risks. The Kingfisher restaurant is closed at this time and we have a selection of Grab and Go items and fresh groceries available at our front desk.

Halcyon is a small resort on a property of over 35 acres. All of our accommodations are self-contained, separate units and we have a touchless, no-contact check-in procedure. Halcyon Hot Springs will be operating at 50% capacity at this time. We have been assured by Interior Health that all of our precautions are up to and beyond their standards. We have been working very closely with Interior Health on this and continuously ensuring that we meet and exceed all required precautions that are requested of us.

We are taking this time of solitude to undergo a rejuvenation and revitalization process at Halcyon. Our public and common areas will be closed for rejuvenation and repair in order to better serve our guests in the future. This will see the closure of our front check-in area, hot springs and more. Hot Springs will be ready to re-open for June 19th.

Halcyon Hot Springs Resort will be continuing with measures put into place at the onset of this outbreak, including additional cleaning procedures and screening policies. As a reminder, any guests who have been out of Canada in the last 14 days or have been ill during that time frame will unfortunately be restricted from booking.

Please contact our front desk for any further information at: 1-888-689-4699

10 Christmas Gift Ideas

10 Christmas Gift Ideas

It can be hard to find Christmas presents for every loved one on your list. Luckily it is easy to browse gift ideas on the internet to find inspiration. We have put together our Top 10, from inexpensive and DIY to grand gift experiences.

1. The gift of Rejuvenation
Whether it is just for a refreshing soak in our ancient healing waters, or for an overnight getawaywith a Halcyon Hot Springs gift certificate, relaxation is guaranteed. You can choose the value of the gift certificate and add your own personal message. Gift certificates can be sent as an electronic file which makes for a perfect last-minute gift. To purchase a gift certificate just call our front desk team at 1-888-689-4699 (toll free).

2. For Tea Lovers
On a winter day, there’s nothing better than curling up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, with a good book, an affectionate pet and a steaming cup of tea. It warms your belly and your hands. A good cup of tea may contain all kinds of great health benefits that can help you get through the winter feeling good. We love the Premium Loose Leaf Herbal Tea from the New Moon Tea Co. Shop online or get a bag of the herbalist made tea at Halcyon Hot Spring’s gift store.

3. Holiday Chia Jam – simple, fast, refined sugar free and best of all, homemade!
You don’t need to be into making jams for this quick & easy to make 4-ingredient Chia Jam. All you need is:

  • 2.5 cups of frozen fruit,
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup,
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • a little bit of vanilla extract
  • a jar, a ribbon and some decoration.

Bring the fruit and the maple syrup to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the chia seeds and simmer on small heat for another 10 to 15 minutes. The chia seeds will thicken the jam. Some fruits are sweeter than others, so make sure to try the jam and to add more sweetness if needed. If you want to give the jam a more festive flavor, add a pinch of Cinnamon, Ginger or Nutmeg. A nice ribbon and maybe a little Christmas decoration and you have a delicious, homemade gift. Or maybe this is just the little special something that was missing in your gift bag or gift basket.

4. A Day at the hot springs
Send your loved ones to Halcyon Hot Springs for a relaxing soak. To make it a day out, a soak in the hot springs could be combined with a delicious meal at the Kingfisher Restaurant or a treatment at the Spa at Halcyon. Or both! There are a variety of day packages available. To see all our day packages click here.

 5. Shop to plant a tree
If you are thinking of clothing items as Christmas gifts, choose a sustainable and eco-friendly brand, such as Tentree. Comfortable clothing for men and women, made from sustainable materials. With every item sold, Tentree plants ten trees and you are doing something good for the planet!
Find out more about Tentree’s commitment here.
You can order online or find Tentree products, such as shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, hats and wallets at the Halcyon Hot Springs gift store.

6. A home cooked meal or a nice dinner at a restaurant
A dinner invitation as Christmas gift? Why not! If a restaurant voucher seems too generic and you would like to catch up with the gift recipient over a delicious meal, you might want to consider a hand-written dinner invitation. This could be for a home cooked meal or a nice restaurant. If you are in the area, why not let Chef Nick Allan and his culinary team at The Kingfisher Restaurant, Halcyon Hot Springs, treat you to a delicious dining experience. Click here to see the new winter menus.

7. A DIY Wellness Gift Box
Get a nice gift box or use a box you’ve got lying around at home and decorate it yourself for a more personal touch. Place some crinkle cut craft paper at the bottom and place items nicely into the box. For a wellness themed box you could add bubble bath, bath bombs or bath salts, a bar of chocolate, a candle and matches. (How about a milkjar candle? See #8.) Add some more crinkle cut paper (or tissues) to fill the gaps and to stop the items from moving around. Two twigs of Rosemary, some Holly Berries, or whatever you have nearby, will make it look complete. Close the box and wrap with ribbon and you’ve got your wellness gift box.
For Men – A BBQ Essentials Box
If the Wellness box is too feminine, you could fill your gift box with a bottle of nice BBQ sauce, some dry rub, smoked salt, a basting brush and skewers or a set of tongues.

 8. A Candle in a Milk Jar
Sometimes a beautifully scented candle is just what we need on a chilly winter’s evening. The scent of warm seasonal spices, clove, orange and other wonderful things is a sure way to get someone you love snuggled up and cozy on the sofa.
The milk jar candles are a sustainable, toxin free product, made by a vegetable by-product; soybean oil. All scents are paraffin and palm oil free. $1 from the sale of every scented soy candle is donated to special needs programs for youth in Calgary.

9. Stuffed Slippers
Get a cozy pair of slippers and fill them with some small gifts. If you don’t know what to fill them with, how about a lip balm, essential oil, candy or some home made Dark Chocolate-Pecan Toffee, and a Halcyon Hot Springs gift card?

10. The ultimate Gift – a two night getaway with massages, dinner and breakfast!
Are you looking for a gift for a special someone? Someone who has been working too hard or had a tough year? Someone who deserves a blissful experience to help refresh body & soul? Our 2 night Getaway with massages, a gourmet 3-course dinner, daily breakfast and unlimited soaks in the hot springs, our new Rejuvenation Package could be the gift you were looking for.
