Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

Who says snow has to keep you off those  trails? Backcountry ski enthusiasts rave about the surrounding area, our wilderness, the wild hidden hotsprings to explore…. From the resort a set of snow shoes can take you up onto trails and ridges. Check out what the Backcountry Magazine has to say about Halcyon Hot Springs. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and crisp mountain air while out for an afternoon of cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Here’s where to rent the equipment and where to go!

Halcyon Hot Springs Village and Spa – That’s right! We rent out snowshoes right here at the resort. Though our trails are not groomed it still makes for a good short walk, or take them to other places in the near area for an afternoon day trip.

Aim for a hole in one at one of our local golf courses!

Nakusp Centennial Golf Course is a 9 hole course located 35km south of Halcyon just on the outskirts of Nakusp on Hwy 6  towards Nelson. The course also features a club house with the Fairway Cafe, pro shop, power cart rentals, practice green, and the Little Summit Driving Range. No reservations are required for tee times.

The Fauquier Golf Course is a 9 hole course located 90km south of Halcyon in Fauquier on Hwy 6 (beside the landing for the Needles toll free ferry). This quaint golf course is located right on Lower Arrow Lakes and is the perfect place to enjoy a round while taking in scenic views. It also has a club house and there are lots of full service camping nearby for travellers.

Slocan Lake Golf Course is a 9 hold course located just north of New Denver on Hwy 6. It too has a club house full of historic photos and a full service restaurant. Beautiful course in a beautiful area.

Nakusp Farmer’s Market

Visit local vendors at the Nakusp Farmer’s Markets where you can find all sorts of treasures varying from crafts and jewellry to homemade sweets and fresh produce.

Watercraft Rentals


Enjoy the landscape and waters surrounding Halcyon Hot Springs. The resort has a limited number of canoes and other watercraft available for rent by the day or half day.

Hiking & Mountain Biking

Hiking and mountain biking are both popular activities in the Kootenays! The Nakusp Trails Society provides several maps of  trails in the region and they can be found here at the link below:
